Frozen Embryo Transfer

Acupuncture for Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) in Knoxville, TN

A frozen embryo transfer (FET) is a pivotal step in the IVF process—and acupuncture can be a powerful, natural way to support the process. At the Tennessee Center for Reproductive Acupuncture, we offer a specialized FET acupuncture protocol designed to align with your transfer schedule and can promote uterine receptivity, and increase the likelihood of implantation.

Whether you're preparing for your first FET or continuing on your journey after multiple transfers, our treatments are customized to your cycle and delivered with care, expertise, and evidence-based support.

Why Use Acupuncture During a Frozen Embryo Transfer?

Clinical research supports the use of acupuncture as a complementary therapy during FET cycles. It can help:

✔️ Improve blood flow to the uterus and ovaries

✔️Improve uterine lining receptivity

✔️ Reduce uterine contractions during transfer

✔️ Ease anxiety and stress throughout the process

✔️ Support implantation and early pregnancy

We work closely with your fertility team to ensure your acupuncture treatments are aligned with your medical plan for optimal results.

Our FET Acupuncture Protocol

Our approach includes acupuncture at each critical phase of your transfer cycle:

Preconception Phase (1–2 Months Before Transfer)

Goal: Regulate hormones and prepare the uterus
Weekly acupuncture sessions help regulate cycles, lower stress hormones, and enhance blood flow to the uterus—setting the stage for successful implantation.

Stimulation Phase (Concurrent to Taking Estrogen)

Goal: Support uterine lining and ease medication side effects
During your estrogen phase, we recommend twice-weekly treatments to promote endometrial growth, balance hormones, and reduce side effects like bloating, headaches, or mood changes.

Day of Transfer (24 Hours Before & After)

Goal: Support implantation and decrease uterine contractions
We schedule two acupuncture sessions within 24 hours of transfer—one before and one after. These treatments help reduce uterine contractions, improve implantation conditions, and support emotional relaxation.

Post-Transfer Support (5–7 Days Later)

Goal: Nurture early pregnancy during the implantation window
A final session during the implantation window can support healthy blood flow, reduce anxiety, and support your body’s natural efforts during this critical time.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • While you can begin acupuncture at any stage of the cycle, we recommend beginning acupuncture 1–2 months before your FET cycle. Starting early allows time to regulate hormones, increase blood flow to the uterus, and create an optimal environment for implantation.

  • Acupuncture before and after the transfer has been shown to improve implantation rates by reducing uterine contractions and can also promote relaxation.

  • Yes. During the stimulation phase, acupuncture helps increase blood flow to the uterus, which can enhance the thickness and quality of the uterine lining—a key factor in supporting successful implantation. Through this increase in blood flow, the receptivity of the endometrial lining is improved.
